The Mooer Black Secret is a hard-hitting distortion pedal that pays homage to another iconic distortion pedal named after a pestilent rodent (you know who we’re talking about!) Our Verdict
The Mooer Micro Series demonstrates once more that a superb build and tones ranging from decent to outstanding can be packed into extremely small packaging. If you like the relative security of having a more substantial and stable slab of steel beneath your feet, the Micro Series may not be for you. However, it doesn’t take much time or effort to secure these units to a compact pedalboard, and if you fly to concerts and like to store gear in the overhead compartment, these miniature monsters will make life much easier.
Some of the smaller controls can be tricky to operate because it can be difficult to discern their position, so you’ll often have to play it by ear if you’re making changes on the fly during a gig. However, once you’ve got them dialed in, you probably won’t need to modify their tone control unless you’re switching out guitars every song or two. These Mooers are all worth a look in terms of both practicality and pricing, and they’re sure to fit a wide spectrum of musicians, from beginners to gigging experts.
