JHS Pedals The Clover Preamp Pedal Review (June 2024)

Last updated on June 14, 2024 4:44 pm Details

In this review post we’re going to be discussing the JHS Clover Preamp/Boost Guitar Effects Pedal, including an overview of its unique features.

Product Description

In early 1984 BOSS released two strange new devices under the name “The Pocket Series”. One of those devices was the FA-1 FET Preamp and it quickly found its rightful place among the legends of tone when The Edge of U2 used it on the recording of “Unforgettable Fire” as well as placing it in his following touring rigs. The Clover Preamp/Boost is our faithful interpretation of the FA-1 but with several additional features that we believe make this amazing circuit even better. You won’t want to be without your lucky tone-shaper at any gig!

Our Verdict

The Clover is a one-size-fits-all preamplifier/boost circuit for any electric, acoustic, or bass musician. The EQ is straightforward, forceful, and does not allow for a terrible sound. The Clover will prove to be an invaluable tool regardless of the sort of music you perform or the amp you use. While the Clover thrives as a preamp/boost for dirt pedals, the Clover’s true power is inputting your tube amplifier into natural overdrive. The EQ allows you to precisely target the point at which your amp is inherently prone to breaking down.

Push your little wattage amp into natural rich overdrive and distortion, or discover new tones in your larger, more powerful wattage amp. The Clover allows Strat and Tele players to gain extra punch, depth, and dynamics that single-coil pickups cannot ordinarily attain, while Les Paul and humbucker players may discover plenty of clarity, bite, and definition! The Clover encompasses every genre, including country, rock, metal, and even acoustic. With the help of the Clover, you may find your distinctive tone!
