Description

In this review post, we’re going to be discussing the EarthQuaker Hoof V2 Germanium/Silicon Hybrid Fuzz Pedal, including an overview of its unique features.

Product Description

Our flagship fuzz pedal can be found on thousands of pedalboards around the world and has rocked countless stages from stinky suburban basements to Madison Square Garden. Twice.

The Hoof is loosely based on the classic green Russian fuzz circuit and features a hybrid Germanium/Silicon design, pairing maximum tone with maximum temperature stability not found in finicky and expensive vintage units. We hand-match our NOS Germanium transistors to exacting specifications for pedal-to-pedal consistency, taking the guesswork out of your fuzz purchase, and guaranteeing that your Hoof delivers the same smooth, natural, and harmonically rich sustain as all your friends’ Hoofs. All your friends have Hoof fuzzes, right?

EarthQuaker Hoof V2 Hybrid Fuzz Guitar Effects Pedal Demo

Our Verdict

After much deliberation, I settled on the reasonably priced Hoof. Numerous Internet reviews and YouTube videos were significant considerations.
You have to admit that the item costs more than 200 euros. Logically, the Hoof cannot be considered to sound twice as excellent as EHX’s Fuzz, but it does provide a little more control over the sound.

The craftsmanship is excellent, the device is not overly weighty, and the primary switch has good (slight) resistance. The only strange or silly feature is the extraordinarily bright LED light. It’s so brilliant that if you stand immediately above the patio in a darkened practice space or at home with dimmed lights, you can’t see the pedalboard.

With regards to fuzz, we could say that we became lovers of the sound after a few days. Even when the fuzz value is pushed up, you can still discern intricacies and distinct tones with power chords. We also use my DS-1 in front of the yard and the RV-6 behind the yard for fuzzy solos. excellent sound.

Overall, it sounds quite current while retaining the classic rock fuzzy roots.
