Our Verdict

The POD HD Pro X’s ease of use is difficult to beat for the ordinary guitarist. Unless you have a soundproofed studio, recording at home might be tough. For example, I have a wonderful vintage Deluxe Reverb, but I can’t play it in my flat without getting a scolding from my neighbor. I also don’t have the high-end recording equipment that a professional studio has. I’m very sure I’d get better results recording a blackface tone directly via the POD HD Pro X.

Some comparable units cost less than the POD HD Pro X. The POD HD Pro X accomplishes a lot—and does it very well—whether you use it as the heart of your guitar system or simply to supplement your present setup.
