Our Verdict

The JHS Pedals Haunting Mids EQ is a well-made and functional pedal. If you place it before or after your preferred overdrive, distortion, or fuzz pedal, it will allow you to vary the sound in subtle to drastic ways, based on how you tune it up. It excels at both narrow and broad midrange EQ cuts and boosts.

Adding a JHS Pedals Haunting Mids to your pedal collection will allow you to get a whole new range of tones from your existing dirt pedals. It’s also a formidable tone shaper for pure tones, and it can double as a boost pedal; smash the front end of your little overdriven tube amp with it and it’ll send it in to a terrifying frenzy of distortion.

If you adjust the EQ just right, you’ll be able to get more howling feedback. It’s an excellent solo boost for live performances, and your guitar parts will benefit the studio as well. With that type of versatility and utility, the JHS Haunting Mids will be a welcome addition to almost any pedalboard. Alternatively, a recording studio. I’d strongly advise audio engineers and studio owners to consider purchasing one for themselves as well, as it may be really handy for producing distinct guitar tones when recording.
